A Large Care Home had been suffering with recurring rat infestations for over 12 years.
The local pest controllers had been repeatedly dealing with the problems as they occured, but a long term solution had been difficult to find. Visiting the site it was immediately apparent that the source of the problem was linked to the drainage system.
The drains had already been examined by a drain company but no definite point of entry had been isolated. One way valves had been fitted throughout the drainage system in an attempt to stop the problem. However the rats kept returning.
We preformed a survey of the whole drainage system and found 9 definte breaks which were being exploited by rats to access the care home. This was a long process, in which the whole system was systematically mapped and defects logged.
We repaired the breaks and provided a long term solution to this ongoing problem.
Dealing with long term rat problems require good knowledge of rat behaviour, determination, patience and accuracy in your approach.
